1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop was acquired by the dealer in 2014 from its previous owner of 51 years and is powered by a 327ci V8 backed by a T10 4-speed manual transmission. The car was refinished in red and white in the 1960's by the long term owner and the car reflects the style of that era.
The paint has held up remarkably well over the last 5 decades but several panels have been recently refinished due to age. The chrome bumpers have also been re-plated and the stainless highly polished. The glass is nice. All the body rubber is still soft. The doors, hood and trunk fit nicely and the sides are exceptionally straight. This has an amazingly rust free body.
The interior is over 50 years old and is a testiment to how well the long term owner took care of it and how little he used this car. The original headliner and chrome top bows are well preserved. The gauge's, interior lights, headlights, tail lights and brake lights work fine. The original radio does not work.
The motor starts and runs smoothly. The 4 speed with the hurst shifter works well. The suspension is solid and drives fine at freeway speeds. Very rattle free. We dressed up the engine a few years ago to look like a period correct Corvette motor, including the polished heat shields, air cleaner and valve covers.
This car has never had a hard life and it reflects it.
