This car is not for the faint of heart… It will scare you! It pulls extremely hard… It’s definitely a show off wherever it goes and you should be prepared to talk about it for a while whenever you take it anywhere. It was originally built to street race and dominate its competition, but it also had to look every bit as good as it ran. Along with winning countless 1st place awards at car shows, it also earned a reputation as a street killer and then again at the track. Because of that, it caught the eye of Popular Hot Rodding magazine for a feature layout where it also made the cover of that issue. Its magazine coverage caught the attention of the folks at Optima Battery who asked to use as the display for their booth at SEMA. This car is extremely nice but by no means a trailer queen show car. It can obviously hold its own at the shows, but it can also back it up on the street and the track…
Originally a Calypso Coral colored car, I enhanced the color to a custom shade of red in order to make it a bit more of a standout among the other cars around it, which it does really well. I originally purchased this car in San Diego CA. and brought it back to Texas in 1989. While it was being built, Larry Shinoda happened by my shop over several occasions and would comment regularly on how much he liked it He also personally autographed it. It has been used for multiple advertisements and TV commercials over the years. There is no rust, still retains the original rolled Boss front fenders. The transmission tunnel shifter opening had been trimmed to fit a Hurst Racing shifter when I got the car. I rolled the rear wheel lips to accommodate for larger wheels and tires, other than that, there are no modifications to the stock body. To make it more street-able, I added a bolt on Power Rack and Pinion and replaced the 4-speed with a Richmond 6-Speed Overdrive Transmission which is actually geared like the original low gear 2.78 Toploader but with a .62 6th gear for pleasant highway driving with the 4.88’s in the locker rear end.
I purchased the car with 38,000 miles on it, and have put less than 6000 on it since I've owned it.
