I put this up once and it was pointed out that the VIN was not correct for a true 442. After some panic I discovered that I had taken down the frame serial number. I have since found the actual VIN, which proves it is a 1969 Olds 442. A real one. It has a 400/365 hp. The wheel wells are not as far as I can tell red under the blue so I doubt it is a W-32, so the HP is somewhat of a mystery. I am the third owner, the first two being the original owner and then a collector who got 50% into the restoration, specifically new bumpers and a new interior, including new upholstery and carpet. Left to be done is the wood grain replacement and ducting for the dash vents. I replaced the wheels with OEM sport and model-correct tires. I did substitute the drum brakes with a disc kit specific to this model but I have the original drums. It is a safety thing as this is a powerful car and the drums are not really up the task and never were. I've had the remaining and very minor rust removed from the door bottoms. I had the engine tuned and the transmission rebuilt. I've replaced lamps, chrome and trim as necessary. So its about 80% towards a complete restoration and I continue to order OEM parts and get it put together. If the car does not sell on Ebay I will auctioned it at a higher price at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson. The car drives great for late '60's technology. It has unbelievable acceleration and will literally smoke the tires forever if you keep your foot in it. Note that the photos were taken before I put the new wheels and tires on it. I am trying to post more photos. -Greg
