eBay This 1970 Maserati Ghibli coupe was manufactured in January 1970 and delivered new to Citroen Canada in Montreal. Later repainted in red, the car remained in Canada until 2004, when it was acquired by a marque specialist out of Santa Barbara, California and subsequently restored. It is now finished in Blu Pervinca over a black interior and shows 49k miles. Power is from a 4.7-liter DOHC V8 paired with a ZF 5-speed manual transmission, and factory equipment includes power steering and a Blaupunkt radio. Maserati Classiche documents include a certificate of origin, delivery records, data sheet, and equipment list. Acquired about a year ago by the current owner, this Ghibli has won awards at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California and is now being offered on dealer consignment in Connecticut with a binder of photographs documenting the restoration, as well as a clean New York registration in the current owner’s name. The Ghibli was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Carrozzeria Ghia,
The Ghibli was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Carrozzeria Ghia, and this example was repainted red by a previous owner. A restoration was completed in 2006 and included a bare-metal repaint in the original
Blu Pervinca. Exterior brightwork was refinished at this time, and current paint blemishes are shown in detail in the gallery below.
Factory 15″ Campagnolo wheels wear 225/70 Michelin XWX tires. The suspension and braking systems were reportedly gone through during the restoration, including replacement of the wheel bearings at all four corners.
The interior was refurbished in 2006 with new Italian black leather upholstery, black carpets, headliner, and door panels. This car features toggle switches across the upper portion of the center console, and the seller notes that interior brightwork was resurfaced in 2006 as well. The car is said to retain its factory glass, and a tear in the passenger-side front window seal is shown in the gallery below.
The 3-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted in front of Veglia gauges, including an 8k rpm tachometer and 200 mph speedometer. The 5-digit odometer shows 49k miles, about 100 of which were added by the current owner. This car is equipped with a Blaupunkt radio and factory-optioned power steering.
The 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 is paired with a ZF 5-speed manual transmission. Features include a dry-sump oiling system, four Weber twin-choke carburetors, and European-spec increased-length headers. Oil weeping is noted by the seller around the rear corners of the valve covers.
Maserati Classiche documentation includes a copy the manufacturer’s certificate of origin, delivery records, data sheet, and equipment list. This car was featured in Maserati Ghibli 1967-1973: Guide to Understanding Changes, Features and Optionsand the Maserati Club International magazine, and copies of both are included in the sale.
