For sale is a numbers matching 1970 Plymouth Duster. Starting life as a 2 door sports coupe Duster 340, this A Body has been professionally engineered & modified to deliver the impressive tire shredding performance today’s enthusiasts demand, with the iconic style and sleek stance that has continued to define Mopar or no Car. Vehicle comes with 2 engines – original 340 (with heads) and current 408 motor mounted to car.
Featuring a custom tubular suspension system with coil overs and rack & pinion steering, the durability of the street/handling complete suspension system saves weight and gave the clearance to mount a Sterling Hot Rods Mopar 408 with Edelbrock heads & TTI 1-5/8” headers out to custom dual exhaust with an unmistakable rumble. With a brand new street/strip Torqueflite 727 transmission pushing power to the ultra-high performance wheels & tires, the driveline setup delivers confidence in the corners while the 4 piston, drilled-slotted Wilwood racing brakes deliver the stopping power & control necessary to enjoy the performance anywhere from the road course to pothole covered city streets.
This 70 Duster 340 painted in Plum Crazy Purple (PCP) with special sports striping and blacked out hood compliments the subtle California rake of the 17x8/18x10 AR Torq Thrust Ms and suspension settings to deliver a smooth ride with a menacing stance. Meticulously maintained and garage stored but some minor imperfections in the paint that come with age (3 small paint chips & road wear on the grille), correct OEM PCP paint is included with purchase. The exterior of the vehicle has been professionally inspected; with panels and gaps that have all been measured and are in excellent condition.
Professionally built Chrysler 408CI stroker engine assembled by Sterling Hot Rods delivering ~475 HP / 500+ FT LBS of torque with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam - can provide exact build sheet for serious bidders.
Torqueflite 727 3 speed automatic with Hurst pistol-grip, 2500 RPM stall speed converter. Rebuilt 8 ¾” rear end with Moser Engineering Axles, four wheel power disc brakes and master power booster all from Wilwood.
All original electrical wiring replaced with custom 21 circuit electrical wiring throughout the entire vehicle with wiring schematic for future mods to include EFI, A/C. LED lights in the front, MSD -6AL digital ignition, battery relocated to trunk. This vehicle is wired to be completely plug n play for any desired upgrades that haven't already been done on the vehicle.
The interior of this vehicle has been stripped to bare metal with sound deadener and heat shield underlayment applied to add insulation before new carpet and headliner installed. Equipped with stock rallye dash bezel, with working tach and instrument cluster. Speedometer has been calibrated to deliver accurate speed with changes to geometry during restoration. Original black front buckets and rear upholstery compliment original 3 piece console trim with Hurst Pistol-Grip quarter stick shifter with reverse lockout that lets you ram through the gears down a windy road or cruise in automatic for a casual drive. Vehicle is paired with working front and rear seat belts and CD player with 4 speakers (2 in front sail panels, 2 in rear pad).
Front - RMS Built Alterktion Street/Handling complete front suspension kit that includes 1-1/4” sway bar and custom-valved power steering rack with flaming river column. QA1 adjustable coil over springs provide adjustable ride height; caster – 6 degrees positive, camber ¼ degree neg on left / ½ degree on right, 1/16” total toe-in.
Rear – Heavy duty springs relocated inward to allow for weld in of subframe connectors and larger tires in the back
Odometer reads 84k true miles with less than 500 miles on new engine and transmission.
There have simply been too many upgrades to list but will answer any questions potential bidders may have about condition and provide additional pictures. Interior pics will be posted soon.
7/12 -- Apologies for the delay in posting interior pictures and thank you all for the interest! The weather in VA has been nasty so I haven't had a chance to get the car out of the garage. I've add some pics I was able to snap this evening. If you desire any specific areas let me know and I'll get them snapped ASAP.
