Hi all! I'm selling my current daily driver, a 1979 Ford F-150 Custom. It is a very clean and original truck, with 81,200 miles on it. It is a 351M v8 truck, with a NP435 4-speed with granny low gear, and 4x4. It has power brakes and power steering. Being a custom trim, everything else is manual (windows, door locks, etc), and has an AM radio that works great. It has dual gas tanks under the bed, switchable from the dash. Both work well.I purchased the truck out of Utah, where it had a lifetime of farm use. It has had lots of recent maintenance, and is ready to keep on driving!
The truck is located in Fort Collins, CO 80525. It has clean Arizona title and plate in my name and is insured with Hagerty as a classic. I register all of my old cars as a classic at my Arizona vacation house for significantly cheaper registration costs than Colorado.
Mechanical:I believe the 351M motor is original to the truck, and the NP435 transmission, transfer case, and axles, etc. The motor has had a recent tuneup (plugs, rotor, cap, wires, belts, etc), and oil change. It starts easily and runs very strong with no noises or issues. It has an original Motorcraft 2150 2-barrel carburetor. The truck has true dual exhaust with mufflers, exiting out the passenger side in front of the rear wheel. The clutch and transmission are excellent, shifting firmly with no slop or wear. The 4x4 system works perfectly as well. Both manual locking hubs are in excellent shape and lock perfectly. The transfer case shifter has positive engagement and no slop or noticeable wear. I've recently replaced the entire brake system as well. New front rotors, pads, brake booster & master cylinder. The rear has new shoes, hardware, and wheel cylinders installed. The power brakes work great and the truck stops well. I recently flushed the cooling system, and it has fresh antifreeze, a new temperature sender unit, and 190* thermostat. It stays perfectly cool with no leaks. There is some oil drips from the oil pan when sitting for a couple days. It has good tires installed, on aftermarket rims with locking lugs (lug key included). I do not have the original wheels/hubcaps unfortunately.
Interior:The interior is in excellent shape. Great dash pad and paint in all black. The interior paint is in very nice shape and looks excellent. The seat has been recovered, and is a very nice off-white or tan vinyl. Black rubber floor mat and shifter boots are in great shape as well. All dash lights and gauges work well. The fuel gauge works perfectly, though note that the fuel level sending unit for the rear tank is bad (I have tested and verified this at the sender). The front tank sending unit works perfectly and the gauge is accurate. The interior light cover is cracked, and I have new bulb on the way to replace the burned out previous bulb. The AM radio works perfectly. Note the antenna base is installed, but there is currently no antenna outside the truck. I recently flushed the heater core, and the heater works well. The 3 speed blower motor works great as well. All exterior lights work well, as does the horn. The rubber weatherstripping on the doors is old and has some cracks. It does still seal well, and the doors and windows do not leak. The windshield and rear window seals are good as well.
Exterior:The exterior of the truck is in excellent shape overall. It is very straight with some minor scratches and dings, and still sports the original dentside chrome/rubber bodyside molding. It seems to have had a shell installed on the bed at some point, as you can see the rubber seal wear around the rear window. The 2-tone white paint on the top is very nice, with some minor surface rust around the seams. Cab corners are in nice shape, with no damage or rust, with good floors as well. The bed is in very nice shape inside, with very light wear. The tailgate has some dents and repaint areas, please see pictures. The latch and hinges work great. The rear bumper is in excellent shape, and has an integrated tow ball. There is a Reese frame mounted tow hitch receiver installed, with wiring as well. I have towed with the truck and it is excellent (especially with the killer low 1st gear!). There is a dent on the passenger side lower bed, please see picture. Overall the body is in very nice shape.
Make sure to check out these additional pictures and videos to get a good feel for the truck.
