For sale is a 1980 Triumph Spitfire. I just put over $1,500 in this to bring it back to daily-driver condition, including a recent carb tune at a vintage British racecar shop. Upgrades include the following:
New poly bushings all around (minus a few around the differential)
New slotted/cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads (+15% more surface area than OEM)New front strutsNew front springs (-1 @ 330psi)New door cardsNew aluminum tri-core radiatorNew carb rebuild kit (and $$$ tune)New front wheel bearingsRebuilt front trunnions/bushingsNew front ball jointsNew trunk carpet/trim panel+ a LOT of elbow grease and TLCNew reinforced rear leaf spring (NOT INSTALLED)New soft top included and installed (but not set up for pics - but nothing wrong)
This spitfire runs better than new. It's currently registered as a collector car - which means no emissions here in Arizona. Nothing wrong w/ electronics as far as I've discovered. Nothing wrong mechanically (anymore) as far as I have discovered. I've taken many trips up and down highways at 75mph for distance and zero problems. Ton of fun. Clean/Open title in hand.
I was honestly planning on stripping the motor/tranny out and putting a hayabusa motor in it - but it runs so well as it is now and is so much fun as is, it's almost kind of a shame to ruin it. I'm therefore selling this and going to pick up a more appropriate (doesn't run) rolling chassis.
