1986 Pontiac Fiero GT Fastback
This almost all original 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT Fastback is a 2 seat sports car, that has been garaged and well-maintained with the documents to show it. It is equipped with the 2.8L V6 motor , and is coupled with the 5-speed Muncie-Getrag transmission. Its high output V6 allows it to quickly accelerate from 0 to 60 in under 8 seconds and give it a over 100 mph top speed. General Motors produced only 17,891 of this GT model . When introduced in 1986; this model has a longer nose and a different roof-line than its base model Fiero, as well as the WS6 suspension with 15-inch wheels. It comes equipped with A/C, power windows, power locks, and the sound system was replaced with a better sounding Alpine AM/FM/CD Head Unit.
Although the vehicles odometer shows 165,469 miles on it, the motor has been completely rebuilt 16,000 miles ago by a very experienced mechanic who owns 13 of these Fiero's. This sought out, and collectible sports car has had many mechanical parts replaced. The alternator, A/C compressor, clutch & pressure plate, master & slave cylinder, the torque strut, exhaust system, which included the catalytic converter also. The owner has receipts for repairs and are available upon request. Overall, the mechanical condition of this vehicle is excellent.
This sports car has never been in an accident; it is always garaged, and has a clear title . Its purchase will easily satisfy the daily driver who needs reliable transportation, and wants a piece of the 80’s nostalgia. If you are purchasing the vehicle as an investment, or if you are an auto enthusiast or a serious auto collector, then the following areas could use attention to restore its 33 year old splendor. Starting with the interior- the driver’s side seat has a wear hole on the left side of the lumbar region, but both bucket seats have seat covers on them; The driver’s side (original floor mat) has a wear hole, but it has not affected the carpet; The headliner is beginning to sag; The passenger side's, rear quarter panel's Plexiglas window, has very fine cracks in a confined small area; On the lower left side of the dash, below the dash vents, on its corner is a small crack in the dash's cover.
Given that this car has been driven on a daily basis for 33 years, covering almost 166 thousand miles, its overall condition would easily be rated as Good+, with minor cosmetic work needed. Those areas for this car are as follows: On the hood are small rock chips in the paint; On the passenger sides, lower ground effects, there is a small crack just before the rear tire on it; On the rear tail lights lens cover that stretches across the rear, there is minor plastic de-lamination, and lastly; There is a small scrape on one side of the rear bumper's plastic cover.
In all folks, given that this car is 33 years old, runs and drives excellent with no noticed issues, and has minimal repairs, in just its cosmetics, then you have a great find! Then when that great find costs $4200, and that is below fair market value after fees are paid.
