I have $13,000.00 in receipts for work done to the car since I got it.The car is in great shape. I would not hesitate to take it on a road trip.
Work done includes new top ( $3000 ), Michelins at 70,600 miles,
new wiring harness ( all models needed this because
the original harness had biodegradable materials and the engineers
trying to be Green apparently did not count on it living is a high heat
environment). It had a small (2-3 drop per week) oil leak and I had
the head gasket replaced. The AC was serviced about 5 months ago and
it blows ice cold--- up to anything a Texas summer can produce. All
heater vents work as they should. New battery and new (OEM) underhood
insulation/blanket. The cruise was intermittent and a computer
up-grade took care of that. Clock works and cassette was squeaking
but a cleaning took care of that ( just in case, I purchased another
used/reconditioned OEM radio which was not installed but would be
included-- the previous owner, whose personal car this was, said it
was always inside and covered when not in use -- he had 3 car lots --
I believe I would be listed as a second owner because it seems it was
driven with dealer plates and never registered past the first owner).
New wiper blades, even for the headlight wipers -- as I said , this
was going to be my forever car to be passed on to the kids, but at 74,
I realize my driving skills are not what they used to be and a newer
Mercedes with blind-spot warnings is in order. My other Mercedes
(2005 E 320 has those and they have kept me out of trouble more than
once). This is a car I would not hesitate to sell to my best friend. I
have proper keys and the proper security code for the radio as well as
an owners manual. The wind blocker is a rare item and my best
information is that it is a 4 to 500 dollar item. I have attended to every
thing I saw it needed but in taking the photos, I see that the antenna
cap -( the plastic where it meets the body) - has some cracks and is
intact but will need replacing. Antenna works well. The leather is in
great shape with no cuts/tears/scuffs. I replaced the weak pistons on
the trunk about 4 months ago. Hood opens fine. I purchased various of
the specific fuses it might need--also included -- Just-In-Case --
and they were never used. As I said, this was to be my
forever car. I don't know where you live, but it is available for you
or your representative to drive/inspect. Current milage is 78968. My
new truck has always lived outside, as this car has always been
garaged. I have records of the work done at a Mercedes dealership from 2009.
More photos if you wish.
