For sale or potential trade by owner
1997 Mazda Miata M edition with 48,798 original miles. I purchased this car 6 months ago at an estate sale from the daughter of a gentleman that passed away. This was his baby untill he became sick where it sat for quite some time while his condition worsened. I have done a lot to get it back on the road and have every receipt for just about every penny I have spent. I prefer to do a pros and cons list I have a lot more photos I can text or email documenting all of the work I did.
Pros:Original 1996 Mazda Miata m edition in pretty good condition for the age 48,798 miles I am the second owner of the vehicle I was told he bought it new at the end of 1996Clean and clear TN title ready to transfer Start runs and drives fineSteering feels solid and I have replaced a lot of parts to get it where it is Everything works as should, lights, cruise etc radio is intermittent
New parts list: Deatchwerks 255 fuel pumpNew NB remanufactured fuel injectors (all new o-rings)Replacement fuel pump housing Cleaned and lined fuel tankFuel filter and all fuel hoses replaced NGK spark plugs Cleaned throttle body Clutch master and slave cylinderStainless braided 1 piece clutch line Motul dot 4 in the clutch and brake master cylinders Drilled and slotted rotors , new brake padsCleaned and painted brake calipers Flushed coolant system1 piece lower coolant hose Silicone upper and thermostat hoses New serpentine belts New battery with warranty Misc bolts and hardware along the wayLucas synthetic gearbox oil in both the transmission and differential Hardtop seals new from Mazda
Cons: 1.Pulled carpet for replacement 2.Trunk area stripped for replacement carpet 3.Hail damage,NO DAMAGE TO HARDTOP , it was purchased and used from a different Miata , hood and deck lid took the worst of it . Fenders are minimal doors and quart panels have virtually no hail damage. A PDR company should be able to get out 90% of the dings for a couple hundred bucks 4. Driver tail light chipped 5. Paint fading on deck lid 6. Typical scratches most will buff out , there’s one on the bumper that will not 7. Radio intermittently works8. M emblems for fenders need reinstalled , 1 was missing when I bought the car but I purchased a replacement
Modifications performed by me: First let me start by saying that I bought this car as a great platform for a track car build but I have since purchased another Miata more suitable for a “toy” this one is too nice and too low of mileage to do a full on track car build
1. Front r style bumper lip2. Cut rear bumper cover for aerodynamics, this is the only thing I’ve done to the car that I regret doing. It looks good and functionality is great but ultimately if I knew I was going to sell it I would not have done this 3. Ac completely removed but included with sale and works as should, removed for track car build .
Ultimately this is a great car with low mileage and deserves someone to take care of it. All receipts provided and I will help accompany shipping arrangements I have sold a few cars on with success. 615-853-3246 text anytime with questions I typically don’t answer calls esp since I work 60+ hours a week.
